You must've bought your device as part of your pay monthly plan and had it at least six months.
Replacement devices must’ve come direct from the manufacturer or through an insurance claim (we’ll need proof of exchange).
If you're in contract or you're a small business customer, you'll be charged £8.99 on your next bill. You won't be charged if you’re on a personal plan and your contract's expired.
Please note: Any Apple device (iPhone or iPad) which was sold on or after 1 September 2015 will be unlocked automatically once the device reaches 18 months old (unless you’re a business customer).

To unlock a second hand device, here's what to do. Firstly, call 0800 956 6000, then press option 2 followed by option 4

We can't tell what device you're using. This happens if you're connected to WiFi. We'll update this info next time you connect to our network. But you'll still be able to use My EE as normal in the meantime.
The IMEI of the device to be unlocked must be registered on the account and not blacklisted.
The amount of time it takes to unlock your phone depends on the device type and is as follows:
Any other device type: 72 hours or up to ten days
We may need to contact your device manufacturer for your unlock code, which could delay things slightly. If that's the case we'll let you know by text on the contact number that you provide with us.
